Healthy Habits
Do you ever feel your energy flagging midday?
If it’s not sugar or dehydration a lack of physical activity may be the culprit.
Foundation: your starting posture
Stand with your best posture: feet hip width apart, shoulders back, lifting through your crown to stand tall. Breathe deeply, pulling in the abdominal muscles and relaxing the shoulders
Big Arch
Place your hands on your lower back or pelvis, elbows bent, shoulders pulling back.
Lean the hips forward, using the hands for support. You want to feel a stretch in the front of the hips.
Side Bend
Same posture, reaching both arms overhead. Exhale, pulling in through the abdominal muscles and reach the arms a few inches to one side, creating a C with the body. Inhale to center and repeat on the other side.
Forward Bend
Same starting posture. Bend the knees slightly and roll down through the spine, starting with the chin towards the chest. Go as far as is comfortable, continuing to breathe deeply.
Don’t worry, there’s no need to go as far as demonstrated in the picture!
A quick, simple set of stretches to pick you up during the day.
Even closing your eyes and taking a few deep breaths can be good for a midday pick me up.
